In 2000, we began working with Marc Kaman to construct what can be described in no other terms other than “dream weekend house.” The project to build this house would prove to be a challenging one. As each challenge presented itself it became clearer and clearer to me that Marc Kaman and his team were absolutely the right people for the job.
Marc was never daunted by a challenge. When we found cast concrete counter tops that we could not live without - counter tops which were manufactured by one firm on the east coast, a firm in New York City - Marc was more that willing to make the necessary trip to New York to make sure that the counter tops were designed and poured properly. He went one step further and had his team transport the counter tops from New York to Philadelphia to ensure that no damage would occur during shipping.
When we came up empty after hours of scouring the internet for unusual hardware, Marc introduced us to a small mom-and-pop hardware store tucked away in northeast Philadelphia that imports hardware from all over the world. We quickly found exactly what we were envisioning. Marc ordered the hardware and installed it. We constantly get compliments on this hardware - hardware that we would never have found without Marc's understanding of what we wanted and connections in the building industry.
And it goes without saying that this project would not have been completed without Marc's knowledge of building and ability to work with unusual and demanding materials. Our drywall is perfect. Our poured concrete and wood floors are gorgeous. There are not words to describe the curved metal sliding door to our bathroom. Beyond visible beauty of the home is a foundation that we quite sure is unshakeable. We know because we wathced Marc construct it.
In addition to building our home, Marc was careful and conscience coordinating the efforts of many people including the architect, an interior design team, and a collection of subcontractors - many of whom are located outside of Pennsylvania.
We recommend Marc Kaman of David Marcus Elite Design and Construction only to those people who are interested in building the highest quality home possible. It would be disrespectful of Marc's time and talent to refer him to someone who is just interested in hammering some wood together and throwing a coat of drywall across it. If you are interested in working with a truly professional builder, Marc is the builder for you.
