David Marcus Construction is a team member. It can be seen as a conflict of interest when an architect recommends a preferred contractor to clients. But Marc Kaman's genuine interest in the success of a project for all involved has paid off for clients so many times that advocating to have him on the job is advocating for the project's success. He is interested in being a team member with clients and designers as he often offers more efficient or sounder ways to approach construction or a design problem. Sometimes it's as if the team is unevenly balanced in favor of the clients, as it is typical for Marc to put the clients' concerns first in all matters of the job. Whether framing a wall, installing trim, or setting the final light fixture, the crews are always making sure that the end result is true, plumb, and well finished. I often have to advocate for leaving some existing construction out-of-plumb or askew, in the interest of time and budget, and Marc’s crews always make the new work seem to straighten out the old by the time they’re through. The crews take immense pride in their work and stand behind high standards in everything from demolition to final cleanup.
David Marcus Construction is appreciative of good design. I enjoy working with Marc Kaman especially because he is not surprised or put off by creative design features or by challenging situations. He takes them on as a challenge to be met in the interest of quality work. Most of my practice involves high-end custom projects that usually are filled with unique and particular details. Marc is eager to dive into the solutions and see that they're carried out as if they were par for the course. Marc's experience, and his interest in how things are made, often leads him to research or generate solutions to details that I had only dreamed up and never expected could be carried out. His interest in the process of construction and in a great end product keeps Marc meeting new challenges with great accomplishment.

He consistently accurately "ballparks" estimates and follows up with a detailed breakdown of anticipated costs. He has access to knowledgeable subcontractors who always meet David Marcus Construction's schedule and quality. Marc's experience also helps him establish good working relationships with building inspectors and suppliers. It's often critical to present the project knowledgably and confidently to building officials and I have counted on Marc often for that.
